Ingrid Michaelson - New York Times Review

Ingrid recently performed for a sold out crowd at the Allen Room of the Lincoln Center for the American Songbook series. Her performance received a great review from The New York Times stating Ingrid's music, "conveyed the warmth and encouragement of a close friend sitting beside you in the back of a bus when you’re feeling discouraged."

Renee & Jeremy's Album Named in Year's Best Coverfolk Blog

Renee & Jeremy's album A Little Love has been named one of the year's best kidfolk cover albums on the music blog Cover Lay Down. We completely agree with the bloggers that the album is "a tidy, gleeful gem of modern kindie music, apt and ample for family fare, chock full of soft-yet-infectiously reimagined songs from R.E.M., Coldplay, Queen, Supertramp, and others that celebrate the gift that is the generous and well-lived life."

Los Rakas Featured on CNN en Español

Raka Dun and Raka Rich of Los Rakas were recently featured on CNN en Español! The interview, which aired Aug. 15th, highlights the duo as an emerging force in the music scene (in both Latin + Anglo) not afraid to sing/rap about politics or shy away from party-rocking anthems.

They are artists who make and blend different styles --their music is all inclusive. Raka Rich quoted in the piece: "La musica de nosotros es de corazón, no tenemos limites, na' mas es musica!" (Translation: Our music comes from the heart, without limits, it's just good music!)

Joshua Sarubin Joins Secret Road as Head of A&R/Publishing

LOS ANGELES – Leading music licensing, publishing, and management company Secret Road Music Services is pleased to announce the addition of highly respected music executive Joshua Sarubin. In his newly created role as head of A&R/Publishing, New York-based Sarubin will work with artists and songwriters already on the Secret Road Music Publishing roster as well as signing and developing new writers and artists.

“Josh has great ears, artists love him, and he brings a wealth of experience from both the label and publishing worlds that enhance our mission here at Secret Road," says Secret Road founder/president Lynn Grossman. "His addition ensures us the ability to offer the same level of personal attention to our artists in the publishing realm that we provide in licensing and management."

Sarubin's A&R experience includes stints at Columbia, Arista and Island Def Jam. Most recently he served as Vice President of A&R at Sony ATV Music Publishing. Among the acts he has signed or worked with are Avril Lavigne, Pink, Santana, Presidents of the United States of America, Lionel Richie and Lady Gaga.

"Working at Secret Road is a dream come true for me," says Sarubin. "I have always admired their incredible success in music licensing, and they have such an amazing roster of artists and writers. Secret Road is the future of the music business, and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Since Grossman founded Secret Road in 2007, the company has launched the career of platinum-selling, indie pop artist Ingrid Michaelson and has grown to represent more than 80 artists and a catalog in excess of 4,000 songs for licensing. The company is unique in that it offers clients a one-stop shop by instantly clearing both mechanical and synchronization rights. Secret Road has placed songs in such highly rated television shows as "Grey’s Anatomy," "Parenthood," and "Pretty Little Liars," and in such films as "What to Expect When You’re Expecting," "Something Borrowed," and "No Strings Attached." Additionally, Secret Road artists have provided music in commercials for Chevrolet, Target, and Google, among others. Last year, the company expanded into publishing with the creation of Secret Road Music Publishing, as well as launching a Latin music division.

Pilar Diaz in LA WEEKLY People 2012 Issue: Celebrating the most interesting people in Los Angeles

As a teenager, Pilar Díaz spent Friday nights at Tower Records in Hollywood with her dad. It was something of a coping mechanism; her mother and sister were killed in a car accident when Díaz was just 11. She preferred the Top 40 stuff, like Donna Summer, Prince and Talking Heads -- "that kind of dance music that's smart," as she calls it now. But her father, an accomplished Chilean folkloric musician who'd moved his family to the United States just a few years earlier, preferred to school her in jazz.

"The Joys of Couch Time" - Sunday New York Times, March 25, 2012

The pop singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson’s latest release, “Human Again,” made its debut at No. 5 on the Billboard charts. As a fortuitous bit of executive-level preparation for her coming 28-date tour, she performed this month at the fund-raiser for President Obama hosted by Deepak Chopra and Russell Simmons at ABC Kitchen in Manhattan. Ms. Michaelson, 32, a native of Staten Island, lives in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, with her husband and fellow musician, Greg Laswell, 37, and their Border terrier, Shep Proudfoot (named for the addled character in “Fargo”).
