Singer, rapper, songwriter, vocal producer - these are just some of the titles held by Jordyn. Adopted into a multi-ethnic family, he was exposed to a wide variety of music and culture. His ability to gracefully flow between genres & mediums has earned the attention of music moguls like Berry Gordy, the legendary founder of Motown Records. Berry enlisted him as a songwriter/vocal producer in 2015. Jordyn has since worked with a broad spectrum of artists: Twista, Jordin Sparks, Xavier Omar, Tsu Surf, Alex Aiono, Full Crate, Lay Zhang (EXO), Ronnie DeVoe, Cece Peniston.
Now preparing for the release of his debut full-length album, Jordyn is more dedicated to challenging himself as a songwriter than ever. “Innersections to me is about being at a creative crossroads with 2 choices - do something comfortable, or take an unfamiliar path,” he says. “In this season, curiosity led me to explore more inner sections of myself, and courage led me to expose them. I come from a world of performing and toplining on contemporary hip-hop/R&B/pop production. This phase of my creative journey called for a more bare bones approach, with most of the project consisting of no more than 5 organic instrument tracks. My collaborators and I explored an array of expression; some vintage soul, a little folk, a little country, gospel, hip-hop and alt-pop. I’m running the gamut from traditional, classic songwriting to dynamic cadence and wordplay. On this project, I took my eclectic influence and turned it into a gumbo for everyone to enjoy.”
