Ingrid Michaelson has released four singles from her forthcoming record, For the Dreamers - "Love Is" with Jason Mraz, "What a Wonderful World," "It Never Ends" and "Backyard."
“I haven’t released a full-length solo record since 2019. I really wanted to put something out in the world that felt a little different from what I had released before, but also kind of a returning to home. Something a little quieter? Something a little hopeful? Something for those of us who can’t help but keep dreaming despite the darkness. And all under the sonic umbrella of decades past.
With 'Love Is,' I wanted to write a sweet and timeless song about being loved and of actively loving. Romantic or non. Just a song about that most human connection. Having Jason join me on the song only deepened that beauty of the song as his is such a calming, singular voice.
The second single is a cover of 'What A Wonderful World.' It’s not a statement. It’s more of a prayer. A wish. A dream. I hope it brings solace.
'It Never Ends' started out as a song for my little niece. A song about remembering that you have a light and a strength in you even when you think you don’t. But honestly, it has turned into a song for me. To remind myself of those very things.
June 21, 2022, I was in Chicago working on The Notebook and doubting everything I had written. I sat down at my little travel keyboard in my rental apt and wrote this song in a matter of minutes. A quiet reminder to be thankful for what I have. To stop searching for something better all the time. To let myself doubt but also let myself be heart sure. It’s called 'Backyard,' and it’s my favorite song off my new record, For the Dreamers.” - Ingrid Michaelson
In case you missed it, "What a Wonderful World" was featured in the penultimate episode of ABC's Station 19 and "It Never Ends" was featured in the series finale!
